Tire Balancer Operation

This machine is a tire balancer, it is used to balance a tire through weight distribution to statically balance and dynamically balance a tire to run true on your automobile.

The first step is to find a cone that will fit in the center
of your wheel and tire assembly that will allow the
wheel to center itself on the machine.
Install the large cone shaped spring on the machine
and then slide the cone on the machine so the cone tapers
out as shown in the  photo.

The second step is to slide the wheel and tire assembly
onto the machine and onto the cone that you previously
installed on the machine.  Install the piece shown in the
photo with the three handles.  Tighten this until the
wheel and tire assembly bottoms out on the machine.

The third step is to inform the machine about the offset of the rim, the rim width and the rims diameter.  You will start with the rims offset, push the button shown in the photo to the left, then use the tool located on the right side of the machine to measure to the inside of the sealing surface of the rim.  Enter this measurement into the machine.

The fourth step is to enter the rim width by pushing the button on the machine that indicates the rim width.  You will then use the tool shown in the photo to the right to take the measurment.  Enter this measurement into the machine.

The fifth step is to enter the diameter the rim on the machine to do this you will push the button on the machine that indicates the rim diameter and then you will look on the side of the tire and find some numbers that look like this, REMEMBER that all tires will not have the same numbers .  You will enter the number that indicates the diameter of the rim.  This number is always to the right of the R which in this case would be 14.

Now you are ready to start the balancer by closing the
hood over the tire and pushing the start button.

Here you can see that the tire is spinning.
NOTE:  Keep anything from contacting the tire
at this point because a slight contact with the
tire will set of the balance and may be dangerous
if contacted with your body.

Here the machine has stopped and has indicated where the weight must go turn the tire until a zero registers on the side you want to put the weight.  Here you can see that it  calls for a 0.3 or  1/4 oz weight on the left side.  In the photo on the right we install the weight straight up and down from the machine.

After you install all your weights close the hood and spin the tire once a more.  If you installed the weights correctly the computer will register all zeros as shown,  if it doesn't adjust your weights accordingly until you obtain all zeroes.  This tire shown was balanced correctly.
